Learning to Depend on Him

Breakthrough Church (00:00.728)
Hey everybody, welcome back to another episode of the Breakthrough Church Podcast. Good to be with you. Want to share some updates about ministry and what the Lord is doing. Just start by saying God is so good and despite just working through imperfect people, he just is so good and gracious to move into work. I'm just so mindful of that, so aware of that this week.

anything's happened or gone wrong. It's just, I'm just keenly aware that we're just in so much need of the Lord and his grace. I read the storybook Bible with my boys pretty much every morning. And one of the stories, it was the calling of Peter and Andrew and James and John and how Jesus said, hey, come on, follow me. I'll make you fishers of men. one of the points of the, I wish I had, I should have brought it with me, but one of the points that it makes is

like who does God use? And it says in there that God doesn't use the person who knows the most or the person who looks the best or the person who has the most gifts or talents. It says that Jesus uses those who understand they need him a lot. And I've been thinking about this idea of God using me and using you, using us and

If he does, it's because he wants to and he's merciful and full of grace. And it's not because I have all these super talented skills and gifts that God can use. I was meeting with a guy last week on Tuesday at UTD and I just was so moved by the fact that Jesus wants to use this guy. And I won't share his story and stuff, but he may sometimes feel like

he doesn't have much to offer. And I just felt so strongly that that's not true. And that he is like first round draft pick for Jesus. That Jesus calls him and wants to use him in mighty, mighty ways. Because he fills people who understand they need him with his Holy Spirit. And what else do you need to be used by God except for the Spirit of God in you? And so just encouraged by that.

Breakthrough Church (02:26.805)
leads me to talk about what I wanted to talk about, which is more of the same from last week. I shared about tasting the fruit and stepping into the promised land that God has for breakthrough, specifically related to healing and deliverance. you know, I shared on the podcast and on my email last week how we prayed for a woman right after the church who has scoliosis and her pain went away. Range of motion was significantly improved. I want to share an update.

On Saturday, I saw her and wanted to lean in and pray for her again and was clarifying kind of how much did she improve? Like if she had to put a percentage to it from how she felt before we prayed for her last week versus how she felt after we prayed for her last week, what would be the difference? And she said probably like 25%, which for me I thought, I felt like it was maybe more than that.

just based on what she was saying, but it was helpful for me to get that number because clearly even just 25 % increase or improvement was a big deal to her. Lots of improvement in range of motion, no pain. And so on Saturday after church, I asked her, 25 % you're better. What would it feel like if you were 50 % better?

And she said, well, I feel like I would have a lot more range of motion, specifically my right shoulder would be able to set back a little bit more. It's kind of like stuck forward. And I said, okay, let's pray for that. So we spent some time praying for her. There were a couple of other words I felt like we were supposed to pray for. was high blood pressure and cardiovascular issues. I know high blood pressure is a cardiovascular issue, but it could have been a broad range of cardiovascular things, but specifically high blood pressure. And she's like, gosh, you're just calling me out every single week. Like I have that too.

And I was like, I didn't know that. God must be really trying to get after you and heal you. And she's like, yeah, I guess so. I honor her faith. I honor her level of faith to believe that Jesus can do more. She struggled with this stuff for years. I mean years since she was a kid. And she's now, she has two grown children herself. so she's been struggling with these for a long time yet still believes that not only Jesus can heal her, but wants to heal her. I just have so much admiration for that.

Breakthrough Church (04:45.365)
So we start praying for her back and nothing seems to be happening and we're just waiting. And I just, had this moment, I think this will help us kind of help you maybe think through healing. I was thinking like, okay, the problem is not on God's end, right? Like we're not feeling anything happening. She's not feeling anything in her body. We're trying to apply healing to her by laying on hands and commanding her body to be better and stuff. And it doesn't seem to be happening. And,

I just had this moment where I was like, guys, let's just relax. Let's just take a minute. You know, we've been going for it. Let's just, let's just listen to the Lord. Let's take a little break and just relax and just listen to the Lord because it's not our, it's not his fault that nothing's happening right now. It's not like God's like, Oh man, I forgot how to do this. The Lord has made his will clear in the gospels that he long, he loves to heal.

people and people who come to him with faith, they are healed and Chris, most of her name, she has lots of faith and, and, so I, I just had this thought like, let's just wait, let's see it. Lord, what, what do you want to heal? And what's the root of this? If there's a root, what would it be? So as we just like calm down and we stopped trying so hard, which trying is not bad by the way, but you can get to a point where you're trying so hard. You feel like it's up to you and

We just calmed that down. said, no, if God's gonna heal her, then he's gonna heal her. Let's just relax. Let's ask the Lord. How do you want us to pray? Teach us to pray. And as soon as we just slowed down and asked that, immediately what came to my mind was broken trust. And I was like, okay, let's ask about that. So I asked her, does that mean anything to you, broken trust? And she was like, well, actually, yeah, this last week, and I won't go into the details, but she was having conversation with her daughter about some stuff and.

and it got pretty deep and there was some things came out that her daughter didn't know about and about her past. And then so she right there admits some things that happened to her when she was a kid, when she was 15. And she was able to confess some things to us. this wasn't the first time that she shared any of this, I don't think. I know some others know, but it had to do with something related to forgiveness or unforgiveness. Excuse me.

Breakthrough Church (07:13.195)
And so I asked her, said, hey, do you need to have you forgiven this person? And I know it's hard to say that because when people hurt you, the last thing you want to do is forgive them. But Jesus, he commands that because it's in the forgiveness that we receive healing. And so maybe there's something to being healed that will happen when you forgive this person from your heart. And she was like, I don't think I've really ever done that. And I want to do that. so, yeah, let's do it. So I prayed for her and then she forgave this person.

and she was teary-eyed and she forgave and then that kind of opened the door for us to go back to that moment and admit lies that she had taken on in that moment and then received the truth from Jesus. And she did that and just received the love of the Father again, the love of Jesus. And it was really powerful. But it wasn't dramatic. It wasn't like this.

incredibly powerful supernatural moment except it was powerful and supernatural but not in the way maybe you think it would be. It was just so subtle and the Lord was ministering to her heart and unraveling some things she had believed about herself for years. These strongholds had taken over for years and she just released those, received the truth and just felt so much better after.

Her back seemed to be about the same after that but later now here's here is this is what?

Breakthrough Church (09:48.386)
You just receive, you are being healed. That is, it is happening. Now, you know, time will tell what this really looks like and plays out, but just look at, look at all that. Look at what happened. Her faith leads her to continue to receive praying. So number one, she didn't just get prayed for once and then just said, I guess it's God's will for me to be the same. No, she got prayed for multiple times.

And she believes despite having this condition for years, she doesn't get settled in it and just think that she's gonna be like this forever, but still believes God for healing. Listen, if you have not received healing from the Lord, do not give up. Don't conclude that it's not God's will to heal you.

Don't conclude that. persevering. Remember the woman with the discharge of blood. She went to doctor after doctor after doctor after doctor. They could do nothing. She still believed Jesus could do something. Think about the woman who was a Syrophoenician who says Jesus healed my daughter and he goes, hey, I can't give the bread to the dogs yet. It's for the children. She's like, yeah, but even the dogs eat the bread comes from the table. And he's like, wow, your faith. So his initial thought was I'm going to heal Israel first and not the Gentiles. The Gentiles come later, but she rushes the process and Jesus because of her

faith and her perseverance. so giving up and saying, trust God is not faith. No, saying I trust God and still persevering to receive prayer, that's faith and God, it honors God and Jesus marvels at that faith. And I believe Jesus has marveled at this woman's faith. And so don't give up, persevere, get prayed for once, twice, three times. Don't stop getting prayed for. Just keep going, keep going. And then be open to how God might communicate to you.

I believe God communicated to her through her watch. And you're like, how can he do that? The Bible tells us that the creation is the Lord's and everything therein. The Lord has everything. Everybody's like, AI, all this stuff. AI, still a creation of God, still underneath the umbrella of creation, therefore subservient and subjected to the creator who is God. And God can use everything in creation to speak.

Breakthrough Church (11:53.934)
He does that all over scripture, he uses a donkey, he stops the sun mid, in the middle of the day, stops the sun and allows light to continue so Joshua can finish the battle. In the book of Joshua, if you remember that crazy story, God can do anything in his creation and speak in any way that he can. And I believe he spoke to her through her watch to tell her, hey, it worked. And I think he was doing this like in the same way when the woman with the discharge of blood comes back to Jesus, falls on her knees and gives him the whole truth and says, this is what I did, this is where I'm coming from.

Jesus, he wants her to know your faith has made you well. Right? That's what he's trying to communicate to her. Your faith has made you well. Yes, it's his power that came out of his body that actually executed the healing in her body. But Jesus wants her to know and he honors her faith and says, it's your faith that got you to me, which triggered the power of the Holy Spirit from me. It's your faith that made you well. And I think that the Lord was doing that with this woman on Saturday night too.

Hey, it was your faith. Look, I'm doing it. I am doing it. So, be encouraged guys. The Lord marvels at faith. He responds to your faith. And so often healing comes as a result of our faith. It doesn't mean that we have the power or that we're all of sudden deemed worthy of His healing. But because we have faith in His ability and His desire to heal, it honors the Lord and it triggers power to come out from Him. So, this is another...

cluster of grapes that is a testimony of what is to come which is I believe a land that's whole Flowing with healing and deliverance like milk and honey and I'm excited for what God is gonna do So I'll leave it there be encouraged have faith if you're lacking faith today one of the most powerful prayers you can pray is I believe help my unbelief just like the man did in John 9 So if you're lacking faith say help my unbelief if you have faith

then go forward in the power of God believing he wants to move in and through you today. Love you guys and we'll be back next week. See ya. Oh, I wanna invite you. I always wanna invite you.
